I got to spend the first part of it with the Lagemæ and the Burnetts and Ms. Shannon Brown for brunch at a place called Jackson Hole down on Second Avenue, between 34th & 35th Streets. It was cool, because although I work on Second Avenue, I'm rarely that far downtown on Second, so it was neat to find a cool new place to eat.
After brunch, Shannon ditched us to go shopping for a Mothers' Day gift, and the rest of us went to see X2: X-Men United at the Loews Kips Bay theater.
THIS MOVIE ROCKED!!!
I'm not actually a fan of the comic books - well, any comic books for that matter - but director Bryan Singer is clearly a fan, and he's put together an really exciting telling of the story that seems to be a pretty faithful adaptation of the comic story - at least according to Kevin.
Anyway, I enjoyed myself immensely - doubly so since I got to see it in the company of real comics fans, and found the whole thing very, very entertaining.
After leaving the gang, I headed uptown to Inwood, for Janet Dickinson's Cinco de Mayo party.
It was wonderful to be able to see Janet, whom I've not seen in quite some time, and all the friends that she's introduced me to since I came to New York two years ago.
You know, this day, if no other, is the greatest reminder I have that I'm never really alone - that there's always somewhere i can turn when I'm feeling low. I need to remember that more often when I'm feeling sorry for myself.
