Happy New Year, Web Friends.
This past year has been a bit of a corker for me, but it's odd, the head space I find myself in right now. It's really the only way I can describe it... "corker."
Pronunciation: 'kor-k&r
Function: noun
1 : one that corks containers (as bottles)
2 : one that is excellent or remarkable
Compliments of Merriam-Webster Online
I mean it in the "remarkable" sense. 'Cuz I can't say it's been a great year - there was too much about it that just plain sucked. But neither can I say that it was a bad year, since there was so much about it that was better than any in recent memory.
I had three (count 'em, three) vacations this year! Do you know when my last vacation was prior to starting this job?!?
Like, 1996.
The Road Trip with Jay O'Berski was so wonderful, and getting to go to Toni's wedding, and two weeks in Florida with Tom Langdon, and the many trips back to the 'burgh - the most paid relaxation I've had in ages!
But it's also been a bit of a traumatic year, living situation-wise. And the affairs of the heart have been messy, too. But even in that arena there's been so much improvement mixed in with the lameness that I really can't say it's been bad.
I'm bolder, I feel better, I look better - and I'm putting myself out there more than I have in years, so of course I'm gonna have to deal with the chance that my heart's gonna be broken, or the people I thought were compatible turn out not to be. It's all part of the process.
Anyway, I can't say I'm sorry to see the year just past come to an end, but neither will it be remembered as a black hole, as 2001 will.
Here's wishing you all a wonderful holiday season, and a year's worth of love and good luck.
