Surprise!
Yet another of those cool-ass days that remind me why I live in New York City.
Kenny and I went to see Sixteen Wounded, an amazing play about a Jewish baker in early-90's Amsterdam who takes on a young Palestinian apprentice. It was remarkable in that it really brought both of these characters to life, and made you care for them despite their serious, serious flaws.
A really remarkable evening of theater.
AND I got a surprise chance to meet a guy from gay.com that I've been chatting with a lot lately. He happens to work reasonably close to my office, and when he found out I was planning on walking over to the theater district, he suggested we walk together. We'd had plans to meet and have a bite on Thursday night, but this proved to be a pre-meeting ice breaker.
Oddly, we got into quite a conversation on our walk across town. It ranged from bad hair days and eyebrow waxing to the correlation between substance abuse, bareback sex, and self-esteem issues. Pretty amazing. I really enjoyed meeting him.
And it was a gloriously beautiful evening in Manhattan - if a bit chilly, owing to the wind.
The weather here hasn't exactly been great, the past couple of weeks. Lots of overcast and rain. And unseasonable cold. They threatened (though we didn't really get) snow last Monday, and the icy cold winds descended. I'm over winter, frankly.
Especially now that we've shifted into Daylight Savings Time!
The good news is that the rest of this week is looking up, weather-wise. And socially, too!
