Neighborly!
So I'm sitting here, looking out my window and watching the street, and Truckie is perched on the window sill; surveying the birds that are perched above him. Times like this, he's so docile and friendly, it's difficult to remember he's the savage wild animal I know him to be. When his belly's full and his servant is nearby, he's a beneficent despot. It's when his will is thwarted that he becomes one of the four felines of the apocalypse.
Earlier today when I arrived home, I left the door open while I was dropping my packages, and Truckie slipped out to explore the stairwell. He went further down than he'd ever gone before -- down to the floor below -- and got himself confused because, of course, the doors on all the floors below look exactly like mine. So there he was, outside the neighbors' doors screaming in fear that he'd been forgotten and locked out.
I got there just as my downstairs neighbor was yanking open her door to see what the fuck was going on. She didn't even say "hi" or anything, just saw me picking up the cat and slammed the door & went about her business.
Welcome to the 'hood.
