Sharing Finite Resources
Yesterday and today have been pretty amazing. It's like seeing how the other half lives. Sleeping in as late as one wants, wandering the city during the day, doing only what pleases you... it's a pretty amazing way to live.
Of course, I'm not really living that way. It's more like I'm on a vacation, for my freedom is definitely finite. At the end of two weeks, it's back to the "grind" for me. As much as being and actor and loving my life can be a grind!
Today I met Tohper for lunch, which was delightful. I've told you about Topher, right? He's my newest friend in New York -- I met him through Kenny Bolden -- and he's turning out to be a dear one. Anyway, we had lunch at Chat n' Chew II, a local eatery and did some catching up. It was a delight to see him.
Afterward, we browsed Barnes & Noble for a bit, and then he went on his way to get some writing done.
I discovered the joys of the free public wireless internet access in Union Square! A company called Emenity is offering access -- paid for by the Union Square business development association, or some such thing -- and it's great! What could be better than indulging my addiction while getting some sunshine and being able to ogle cute people?
I think the universe is trying to tell me something. I was just saying to Jay on Sunday that my camera has got to go, 'cuz I'm just so unhappy with the quality of the images it's been producing lately. And since I had a bit of money coming to me lately, I thought that I would put a lion's share of it in savings, but allow myself to spend some money on a new camera. And of course, you'll remember that I was talking about the D100 from Nikon, which Sue Ellen Fitzsimmons used to capture the photos at the Stones photo shoot. That's probably a bit more than I should spend, but boy it would be cool. I'll think about it.
The other thing I have to do is get off my ass and get both my headshots re-done, and my voice-demo done. Both of which aren't going to be cheap, by any stretch of the imagination. We'll just have to see how that goes.
So I've pretty much spent the afternoon roaming the city -- eating with Topher and wandering around his neighborhood, and hanging out at Union Square -- and now I'm killing time in the Starbucks at Union Square 'til I go and meet Kenny for coffee at 7 p.m. And maybe even meet his new... what to call him? Well, the new guy with whom Kenny's had a couple of dates. How's that? Here's hoping that continues to go well!
I said to Kenny today that I'm beginning to believe we share a finite supply of romantic satisfaction between us. That is, if he's using the supply, I'm cut off from it, and vice versa; i.e., we're not both allowed to be experiencing romantic fulfillment at the same time. I was joking, of course. A little.
