McHales
Tonight's going down in my history as one of the best ever.
Kevin, Kirsten, Ken and I all met after work at McHale's and had our last-ever burgerfest. It was delightful in the extreme, and bittersweet, too, knowing that we'll not being doing that for a very long time -- if ever again.
Much of the last month with the Lagemæ has had that feeling -- that some era is coming to a close, and fun like that which we're having at any given moment shall not show its face again. Stupid, to be sure, but there it is. I'm dreading the void that'll be left in my life by their departure.
I only thank God I have Ken & Topher here with me. As long as that lasts.
Anywho, after we finished gorging ourselves on McHale's burgers (I still insist they're the best in the city), we came to the conclusion that we needed to have cheesecake from Junior's. So we got on a subway train to Brooklyn and settled in for even more gorging!
At Junior's, Ken and I gave the Lagemæ our final parting gift: A book of drink recipes for future Festive Beverage Nights -- since we won't be there to help them make up new drink recipes. Who can forget The Ashy Whore?
God, I'm gonna miss these people.
