Pre-90°
My god, but it's a beautiful morning. I understand that later on the temperature is going to reach 90°, so that should be a treat. He said facetiously.
It's quiet here, still. The crowds haven'tre really descended just yet - so the Long Meadow or whatever it's called isn't full up just yet. A couple of scattered sun bathers and some folks playing softball.
I just saw the most amazing thing: What had to have been a ten foot long strand of spider silk just went flying by, coiling and snaking along on the breeze. I couldn't see it, but I imagine there was a spider attached to the end. Isn't that how they travel?
It looked like a tiny thread of rainbow, bending and spiraling around itself, changing like quicksilver, reflecting all the colors in rapid succession. Things like that strip my heart and leave me breathless with wonder. A part of me that's dissatisfied with my world wants to chase after it. Abandon my bike and backpack and camera and just follow it to see where it goes.
I don't have any illusions that it would be cool to be a spider, but how cool would it be to be able to just fly away like that? No need for airlines or cars or trains, just squirt a long enough strand of silk out your but so that it catches the wind and carries you away. Okay, the mechanics of it aren't all that charming, but still... imagine that.
And for the diehard Truckstop fans, here's a couple of new-ish shots:
