A Good Weekend

This was a good weekend.  I spent much of it with Doug Rees, Kevin & Kirsten Lageman, and Kenny Bolden.  The lot of us saw Dawn of the Dead on Saturday which, frankly, rocked.  Sure, it wasn't the original, but it was still a very fun movie-going experience.

Afterward, we all went out to dinner at The Joshua Tree, which turned out to be a pretty good meal.  I've been laying low in the financial expenditures department, so I didn't go overboard, knowing what we had planned for the rest of the evening.

Doug, his friend Wayne and I went for drinks at a place called Zanzibar on 9th Avenue where we took thorough advantage of the happy hour and got blotto before moving on to McHale's, after Doug was seized by the need to have a hamburger.  It's all about that damn Doug.

Sunday, Kenny and I went to see Bug, a thoroughly enjoyable if oblique play.  Ken's friend Dee Pelletier is the understudy on the show.  I'd have especially loved to have seen Dee do it, as we'd seen her do a show a while back based on the life of Aileen Wuernos (ie, Monster) and she was great.

It's the weekend like these that remind me why it is I love living in New York City.
