Crazy
Today was my last day at the Population Council. And what a day to go out on.
My colleagues gave me a great going away party. I was summoned to the conference room only to find my friends and co-workers hiding behind masks of my headshot. Talk about a surreal experience. I couldn't stop laughing.
What should have been a great experience was, however, tainted by the craziest of coincidences. The moment of my party just happened to be the time a stranger decided to try and bluff his way on our floors at One Dag Hammarskjöld Plaza and, having succeeded, took the opportunity presented by the absence of all my friends from their desks to rifle through coats and purses and desks and make off with credit cards and the like.
How nuts is that?
Somehow, I think this might be read as a reminder that life is about balance -- good with bad -- but I don't think that's much comfort for my friends.
Here's hoping that karma comes back to bite credit card man in the ass.
