Adding a Little Color

I just realized that I haven't written a word here in a couple days, after posting something almost every day for a week.
I've been trying to paint my apartment for the last few days, and have gotten surprisingly little done.  It's owing mostly to the fact that I'm a complete novice at this, and that I didn't understand that the paint that was already on my walls really required a primer, 'cuz it's so glossy and on so thick that it's hard for these really lovely colors I've bought to cover it.  The living room (as you can see below) didn't turn out so badly, but the dining room, for want of a better word, since it's really not that big and is more of a dining area, turned out rather disastrously badly.  You can't tell it so  much from the picture, but it's very streaky and the orange paint (yes, I chose and orange color for my dining nook) just didn't cover well.  Topher suggested that it might be the grade of roller I chose as well.  Could be.  I'm too much the novice to know any better.

Kenny Bolden has graciously agreed to help me repair it when I come back of a Sunday evening after a rehearsal or show in Philly.  Here's hoping we can make it into something I can live with.  I'm planning on being in the apartment for a long time.

I have to say I really rather enjoy how the sage (or rather "misted fern," which isn't quite as green as it looks in this picture) goes with the wood floors.

The dining nook doesn't look as bad from a distance as it does up close.  You'll have to trust me when I tell you, it looks pretty bad.  Hopefully we can fix it.  Otherwise, I'll just have to paint over it and start over again.  Ack.
