A Bargain
I got the chance to pop in to the Pop Council and see some of my old workmates when I stopped in to have lunch with Holly Hobart, who's getting ready to leave on her Fulbright scholarship to Turkey.
I can't believe that time has flown by so quickly -- I've finished working in Pittsburgh, and I'm getting ready to head to Philadelphia, and Holly's heading off to Turkey soon. The summer seems to have flown by so quickly.
So today I'm finally getting a real start on painting my apartment. It's a little weird to finally be doing what I've talked about for so long, but have always been way to poor to consider. It's not, mind you, that I'm any less poor; in fact, I'm probably a lot more poor now than I was two months ago. But I happen to have the money in the bank right now, so the painting is getting done. And it's going to be a great relief when it's finished, to be sure.
I'm sitting in the Gorilla Coffee shop and downloading some tunes from the iTunes music store. And of course, in the middle of my ordering and paying for these tunes, they have to have trouble with their wireless connection. There are so many people here hanging out and surfing that the internet connection is really slow. My pain is small compared to the guy next to me. He's trying to buy an airline ticket on priceline.com!
Who knew that Neil Diamond songs could take so damn long to download?!?
I know. Don't mock me. It was an impulse purchase. They were playing snappy Neil Diamond songs at the coffee shop and I got 17 songs for $10.
So get off my back.
