Be Careful What You Wish For

You'll recall that recently I wrote that I would prefer that the weather turn spring-like.  Specifically, I wrote that I wouldn't mind a fierce spring rain as long as it were followed closely by blue skies and some greenery.

Well, apparently after midnight tonight, I get to put my metaphorical money where my mouth is.

The forecast for the next day is torrential rains, followed by some clearing and nice weather on Sunday.  I had been feeling at the beginning of the week like I was going to be resentful about it, 'cuz New York's weather has been suspiciously, it's seemed to me, like Pittsburgh's lately.  We had an old saying in Pittsburgh: What follows three days of rain in Pittsburgh?  Monday.

Lately, I've been getting seriously miffed over the fact that every weekend has had pretty lame weather, which has only let up once I had to go back to work.

So I'm doing my best to contain my bitterness.  It helps that most nights this week have been spent in the company of Max on his evening consitutional.  I've been getting a little exercise and enjoying the slightly warmer weather - even if it is at night.

By the way, what do you think of that picture?  I rather like it, though I'm sure it's not exactly a work of art.  I just think it's kind of cool.  I snapped it last saturday while Max and I had our walk.  In between scattered rain showers.

The Lagemæ are going to Mohegan Sun, in a belated celebration of Kirsten's birthday, so I'm a big old bachelor this weekend.  As Nate put it in an online conversation this evening, "I'm trying to spend zero dollars."  Buying both those plane tickets so closely on each others heels wasn't the smartest thing I've ever done.  But what the hell.  My vacation in August is pre-paid, and I get paid soon enough anyway.

One thing I may spend some money on is the Brooklyn Botanic Garden - if the weather turns nice on Sunday.  The cherry trees are appparently in bloom, so Eric and I might go back to check them out.  Carin's family is going to be visiting on Sunday, and he wants to stay out of their hair.  It might be nice to hang out and see what else is blooming at the garden, and maybe go people watching at the park.
